There is a buzz in the air today! People chatting, questioning an potentially reading a book many may have never picked up previously. It is the day after the Bible series aired on the History channel. My facebook and twitter are lit up with comments, questions and opinions! On Twitter the Bible was trending #1! Which means one big thing; opportunity!
Use today as a chance to talk to people. In fact, use the next few weeks to talk to people! People have watched something about the greatest Book ever written. They have watched something that is a springboard for you to talk to them about their faith! Here are some starters, the unspoken answers that you will get from their response and how to turn them into a conversation.
“Did you catch the Bible on the History channel last night?”
You will know if they find the Bible show important enough to watch. They will likely give enough opinion in their response to figure out where they are coming from.
“How accurate do you think the show was to the actual Bible?”
This will show you their knowledge of the Bible. They may know none, just Sunday school stories or major details.
“Do you think they did a good job with your favorite story from the Bible?”
You will find out what their favorite story is. Say it is Jonah. You will know how plausible they feel the story is and can begin to talk about it.
“Did your children watch it with you?”
They may say they watched it alone because their children are too young to understand (hinder not the little children to come to me, Jesus said!) or they plan on watching it later or they didn’t think their children would care. Great springboard into what authority they parent with!
Those are just some ideas. There will be lots of buzz so use it to share the Gospel with people! You may never have such an easy opportunity again!
Once you have chatted with a few people come back and tell me how it went! I want to hear your stories!

Very unbiblical and dishonoring to God. The entire series either diminishes the holiness of God or it or completely omits it while exalting the tenacity if man.

I tend to disagree with the fact is dishonors God because of one thing, it shows the Bible as actually history! So many think its a fanciful story made up over time but instead the series presents as these things took place within the last 6,000 years. I think that is a HUGE benefit. Plus the fact it starts conversations and people are talking about Him is a huge thing. Though I know the Holiness of God will be left out the supernatural power of Him (and His Law!) will have to be involved and that can speak to the conscience of the people watching. Thanks for commenting with your honest opinion! I appreciate it!
