We all say it. We all hope to do it. We have all forgotten to write it down. We are all guilty of this grievous crime…. telling someone you will pray for them and then you forget, or don’t, or knew you never would and said you would just to get out of the awkward conversation! Oh, sister, I know this pain because I too am guilty.
Strip off your comfort zone because this weeks (yes, the WHOLE WEEK!) challenge is praying for people at the very moment you say you will be praying! That means if you are at church and you see someone who had been sick you do not say “I will be praying for you!”. Instead you stop and pray there, or find a more private place to pray over them. That means if someone is in crisis on facebook you don’t comment ‘Praying!’, you write it out, word for word, down to the Amen!
I have been doing this for the last week and I will tell you I was shocked at the amount of times I had to stop and pray! It didn’t feel like I said it that often but boy, do I! Worse yet, I know I do not pray every time I say I will. This week stretched me. This week opened my eyes. This week was supposed to be an easy challenge! Instead, I called my hypocritical self out onto the mat, wrestled my flesh and hopefully conquered this bad habit!
Now, it’s your turn! It sounds easy…. hahahaha….. sure, tell me all about how easy it was at the end of the next 7 days! Be sure to report back through out the week. Stories, testimonies, confessions and victories! I want to hear it all!
Be sure to share! After all, there is comfort in numbers!
Just be sure not to end up like this guy.
Have fun! Jenn
